EU UPDATE: Poland On Top
Poland takes over the revolving Presidency of the Union for the first time since joining the EU in 2004. Poland's term runs from 1 July to 31 December 2011.
Poland is the fourth new accession Member States to take the helm of the EU - Hungary held the Presidency during the first half of 2011 with Czech Republic and Slovenia being the others to have already had their turn.
